Account Advisor_Heartland Alliance International (HAI)

 3 Locations Akwa Ibom/ Cross River & Lagos
The Account Advisor will work closely with the Finance Manager and members of the Subaward Management team and the Capacity Advisor in enhancing the capacity of the sub-recipient in financial management, assist in ensuring activity expenditures are allowable, allocable and reasonable and financial reporting is accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • To provide guidance regarding all financial standard practices to all sub recipients in the state
  • Responsible for maintaining the interface between Heartland Alliance Nigeria and sub-recipient to ensure accountability and the timely processing of sub-recipient funds.
  • Address account concerns, as they arise, in a timely and succinct manner and ensure compliance of donor standard practices.
  • Input data into QuickBooks on a daily and monthly basis.
  • Review monthly financial reports from sub-recipient before submitting them to the Finance Manager.
  • Serves as Human Resource Focal persons for the state offices, performing all related responsibilities.
  • Coordinate fund request and disbursement, verification and reconciliation of financial statements of accounts of the office and partners.
  • Sole responsible for the custody and preparation of checks for payments after due approval has been obtained from Country Office and or the State Team Lead.
  • Undertake the receipt and payment of cash as directed by Country Office and or the State Team Lead
  • Complete and submit tax remittance and pension contribution to the relevant tax authorities in the state.
 2.   Capacity Building Support:
  • Build the capacity of sub-recipient accounting and administrative staff through conducting formal and informal trainings in financial management and on the job mentoring and coaching.
  • Support the capacity building plan in partnership with the State Team Lead to ensure that participatory assessments, audits, and spot checks are conducted and sub-recipient follow-through with recommendations and corrective action plans.
  • Build green housing staff capacity to manage US Government funds before they become direct sub-recipient.
 3. Management and Supervision: may have 1 – 3 direct reports.
  • Co-locating with green housing partners
  • Supervise the Logistic Assistant, Finance & Admin Assistant, and the Drivers to ensure smooth management of Finance and Admin operations.
  • The supervisory roles may increase as the project grows, such increase in the number of staff and project which the position may provide supervision for will not have a correspondent raise in salary.
